Some Cool Cars cont.
This is Tom's 427 Cobra that he has owned and raced since 1969. The front end shows nice patina.:) Sorry for the dark photos.

And everyone needs one of these don't they? His top fuel dragster driven originally by Tommy Larkin.

My favorite car. The 1968 Trans Am champion Camero owned by Penske and driven by Mark Donohue.

Just so you don't think these are static displays, he races the Stingray and Camaro in HRS events each year. Amazing stuff.

WOW! An eclectic and gorgeous collection. Thank you very much for sharing.

It doesn't happen often, but that Camaro makes me proud to be an American. ;)
Awesome cars. And even more awesome that he races them.

Jack,
You will appreciate this. During the Trans Am race at the Monterey Historics last year, Vic Edelbrock cut Tom off and clipped his right front fender going into the last turn at Laguna Seca. When I saw the damage I was beside myself but he seemed to take it all in stride chaulking it up to "Oh, well its just racing".

WOW! In addition to being blown away by that selection of rides... a few observations:
Very impressed that there is a Poul Henningsen PH Contrast lamp hanging back there. In a GARAGE no less! Certainly we have a REAL man of wealth and taste here (not like you know who... our pretender).
Also, shocked to see Chevrolet had radar proximity sensors way back in 1963!!!!

That Mark Donohue Camaro was one of my childhood heros (as was Mark Donohue and later Hurley Haywood ) Partially how I got hooked on P cars in the first place (have to include those awesome Porsche posters with naked female body parts draped across the hoods - remember those?)
I've seen that camaro race at the HRS both in Monterey and at Sears the last few years. I met Vic E. at last June's and he gave my kids those (ugly) red and checkered flag hats, but was the nicest guy. Watching him and his DAUGHTERS! race their corvettes against the Camaros and Mustangs from that era is absoluetly awesome. Those vintage race weekends are awesome!! An original 356 Gmund coupe raced in the early 2 liter class last year. You could feel and see the hammer marks of that thing being pounded by hand against the wood mold.
Thanks for showing Tom's garage and a little diversity. Wish my house was a big as that garage ;(

Jared,
Good eye for detail. Here is a better view of the lamp. Tom is really into mid-modern furniture. He has the rest of the shop and his house full of it. Nice clean look, I like the style.

Chris,
Be sure to stop and meet him if you are in the paddock at Monterey this summer. Who knows I may be hanging around there too.:)

Just great photos Brian. I wonder if that Penske Camaro has the lightweight body panels (acid dipped). I was thinking of that car just today. Thanks for posting.

Jens,
According to Donohue's book, The Unfair Advantage, the '68 Camaros (they had 2 cars, the other driven by Posey) had a dipped subframe and panels. SCCA was weighing the cars so they had to meet the minimum weight of 2800 lbs. To do so they had to add weight back into car in places that gave them an advantage.
