You can double check on the gauges, should read 4zyl on the back if they are in fact 912.

Nothing wrong with the VIN stamping other than not belonging to the car, LOL. Whether originally a 68 911 or 912 doesn't really matter at this point though it's probably as easily determined as I suggested. Look at the under knee pad production number.
It's a cobbled car with more importantly fraudulently modified VIN.
I wouldn't give the car any more thought. Run Forrest Run!
Why buy a car like that because when it comes time to sell it again think of all the questions and concerns other people are going to have --what a hassle. forget this car.
Sorry for my English, I didnt mean the stamping itself but the fact that that it doesnt belong to a SWB car.
I would stay away from cars with altered identities.
