Batteries
Am looking for some help in purchasing the two batteries for the older 911's (mine is a '72 E).
Have checked out Interstate, Deka, Die Hard, and Exide. Sizes do not match up. Prefer to buy a battery with the side posts, rather than top.
Any leads?
Thanks...

Why do you prefer side posts to the top? To my mind, side posts are more likely to short out with anything metal sliding around in the trunk.

hello fellow smter, i ordered some sonnenshein dry fits from lauderdale battery. top sae posts, but worked fine( i still have the rubber post caps). about 220 for both ups to the front door.
see you at the next fun run, pending non stinky heat or some warmer weather.

Vic,
I've run Interstates (two) in my 73' for years with no problems... that is when you check and maintain them.
Here's something …
I think it was one or our German contribuators who informed us that the small 12V VW 'under the rear seat' battery (67'-?) is idenical in spec and size to each of our early twin batteries and probably a lot cheeper….
I havn't checked out the specs myself, however this guy is almost always right…
... maybe worth a look?
Cheers,

I got my Sonnenscheins at www.batteryweb.com. Talk to Dave or Randy. They were great to deal with.

Bulldog and Tryan
What model Sonnenschein did you end up ordering?
-
christie brinkley, but she was a no show.
DF75 A212/36 sonnenschein 890640ppw.

Now perhaps I see the price difference. I'm currently running the sonnenschein dry fits, a non liquid gel cell. The numbers on the box are a bit different. #A-200 then #081-90640. If I'm not wrong, bulldog is running the same as I. Tryan, are your batteries liquid lead/acid? Dry cell?

I don't have the boxes handy, but mine were $198 each, ++. I think they're the Dry Fits. Car is in the shop, so can't check right now.
