Ground up or Other Restore??

In deference to Rick Cabell, who has accused me of hijacking someone else's thread, I will ask this question.

What was typically done to get your car to its current state? Did you have a ground up restore done? Did you have a bare metal repaint, and refurbishment of the rest of the car?

What were your reasons for your approach, and do you have any regrets? Would you do it differently next time?
