rs chairs
I'm buying an Rs clone that is pretty nice. What are opinions on seats. I have seen some really interesting fixed back, black deeply bolstered chairs that look very nice. Would people recommend those or are others as interesting? It currently has momo racing style buckets in red.
Thanks,
Jeff

Check out Peter Z's seats on VintageSeats.com. He makes terrific RS replica seats, upholstering done at Auto's Int'l. I bought one for my 911E, for my daily driving, and the POC short track events at Streets of Willow. The seat is comfortable, looks great, and is extremely light.

Those are pretty groovy - the ones I've seen in Brit Magazines seem to be shorter with a more 60's ferrari sport seat. Kind of like what you would see in a 250gt SWB or something like that. Thanks for the recommendation!

Headrests are a good idea, even if they're not always historically accurate.
Sucks to snap your neck for a period-correct look. :(

A true period "bucket" seat is very cool-looking but you may want to consider is the lack of headrest, a safety hazard in any kind of rearend collision. But good luck on your search. There's a link to a German seat-maker from the RGruppe site who makes some RS style seats as well.

That is way cool!
I hate snapping my neck to look cool

also, for a nice period look but on a budget try Corbeau's GT A lo back; comes w/ HR and cost @ 285.....I have one on driver side in a T.....supportive and will prolly fit a 6 ft'r up to 190 lbs w/ a 36 waist........
-
also, there is another lo cost Corbeau; it has been installed by another poster on this board...it is verĄ nice but I think more suited to a smaller framed driver; it resembles the Konig/Scheel seat found in some 914's......

I have one of Peter's seats and it is great. If I was trying to look authentic w/ an RS clone, though, I would use the RS-Racing period buckets with the thumbscrew adjusters on the side.
I just wouldn't want to pay for them, what with the exchange rate these days....

I have a pair of Peter "Z"s R seats. I love them. Very comfortable while holding you tight.
