Have a 1968 and it's just finishing painting. Body panel assembly questions

Hi Everyone.

As my car will be painted in a week now I already have parts painted in my garage waiting assembly to the painted body.

I know the best things to do.

• Take care
• Tape edges to avoid damage.
• More bodies are better that 1.

:)

Before front fenders go on I will make sure all suspension is done first.

Are there any videos anyone has links to of fenders bolting on or tips or tricks.

Always seems scary when the car is painted in your garage and all you have is a lot of parts and rubber and bags of bolts.

Make sure the paint is All the way dry or you could wrinkle the paint on a panel when you tighten down the bolts

Not knowing how far your car was striped down, you kinda have alot to do before fenders. I prefer to do most of the front trunk 1st, then I am not leaning on the painted fenders. Fuel filler and fuel door gets assembled before fender is installed. etc.

I'm told by my painter to wait 3 weeks so do anything.
Wait for the paint to cure properly.

And 76711s. I think that's a good idea too. I think Ill do fenders last.

Unless they were removed, all SWB cars fenders were dowel pinned to the inner fender structure after gaps were set. Hopefully your doors were removed via the hinge pin removal, not by unbolting the hinge. If it was by unbolting the hinge you're going to have fun refitting painted doors. The SWB workshop manual shows a sequence for bolt tightening when refitting the fender. There also needs to be a strip of caulk material applied to the joining surfaces along the inner fender panel and also the joining plate.
