This 1971 Porsche 911E (chassis 9111200318) has been owned by the seller since 2006 and is a matching numbers car with some choice upgrades. The car has 400 miles since a very thorough restoration including a bare metal paint job, rust repair, and rebuild of the original engine with twin plugs, improved oiling, and a 2.7L crank, among the other mods listed below. The seller has also found the original owner and has the original window sticker and maintenance book as well as good service documentation back to the 1980s. The car is now available in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for $42,500 CDN.

Thanks for the daily email, as it led me to the purchase of a great car. I didn’t have to go far to acquire this terrific 911E in North Vancouver. In fact I never left home as the seller delivered it to my home in Victoria BC. He appreciated the last drive and a beautiful ferry ride to the island. It’s a great car and very fast. It’s interesting to consider the upgrades on this car such as suspension and the twin-plug mod. To those who claimed “sacrilege” I say “hop in let’s go for a ride”. This car will be an awesome addition and will fit in among a 56 AC Ace, a 59 Elva Courier, a 64 Lotus Elan, 66 Sunbeam Tiger, a 66 427 Corvette, a 60 Lola Mark1 and a 63 Lotus 23B among others.

The Front Story . . .

. . . The window sticker shows that the car was originally sold in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the seller says it later went to California and then to Canada. The seller spend $14k on the body work, which is well documented in the many photos in the album below. He says the car showed no signs of a major accidents, and that the rockers were peroperly cut out and replaced along with the front suspension pan. Both front inner panels and one spot on the passenger rear floor board were also repaired. The car now has 103,130 original miles. Euro Headlights with PIAA Bulbs and TTG running lights were added, and LED bulbs were used everywhere else . . .
. . . The complete front suspension from a 1986 model was swapped in, complete with lower sway bar (later Carrera style) and aluminium cross member . A through-the-body sway bar is provided, not installed. ’S’ brakes with cross-drilled front rotors, a new Ate master cylinder, and stainless lines were also added. Tires are new Yokohama AVS ES100 205/60r15 on all four corners . . .
. . . The black interior is nicely enhanced with a GTS Classics Nurburgring driver seat with lumbar support (adjustable), a TRE roll-bar for tall drivers, and a vintage Nardi steering wheel. All new correct velour carpets from Sierra Madre were added and genuine black/grey Coco Mats are a nice period accessory. A vintage Martini shift knob was added, and the original 5-speed knob is also included. New retractable seat-belts were installed in front and custom made rear seat-belts with Porsche logos were added in back. A Becker Europa II stereo head unit with accessory input drives hidden Sony speakers, and the dash, a-pillars, b-pillars, and armrests have been refinished in black leather . . .
. . . The original 2.2L engine case holds a 2.7L crank (inspected and micro polished, 70.4 mm) and matching 2.7L connecting rods. AA Cylinders, ’E’ Cams, JE 86mm pistons, and new complete set of German bearings were also used. Exhaust consists of SS heat exchangers and a M&K 2-in-1-out custom muffler . . .
. . . Twin-plug ignition components include the following:
* Heads twin-plugged and completely rebuilt to S-specs, valve guides seats seal etc.
* Twin Plug Distributor made from the original Bosch unit by Aaron Burnham of Rennwerks Inc.
* Custom ignition wires made by Aaron Burnham of Rennwerks Inc.
* Dual MSD 6ALN Digital ignitions
* Dual MSD Blaster Coils
* Dual MSD Tach Adaptors. 1 for Tach 1 for MFI Speedswitch
Oiling improvements include:
* Piston Oil squirters
* Oil bypass mod
* Connecting Rod Oil Squirter Mod
* 964 Oil Pump
Elephant Racing oil cooling system including
* Elephant Racing finned oil lines

. . . The transmission received a complete overhaul in 2008 by Porsche Indi, including a new Porsche starter ring gear and a high-torque starter. A Weltmeister short shift kit was also installed. When asked about any needs, the seller mentions the two following issues:
* Only one of the two heat exchangers is connected to the hand cable. The driver side needs a new cable
* The INNOVATE LC1 Lambda Wideband Cable with 0xygen Sensor is installed but not wired to a gauge. The gauge is not installed either . . .
