Tensioner Guards

G'Day! After much reading of discussions on various forums, and the opinions being divided about the necessity and merit regarding the installation of 'Carrera Tensioner Upgrade' on early engines; I have elected instead to retain my hydraulic tensioners but install tensioner guards in my 1968 (130HP) 911 engine as a safety precaution (please no further discussions on this as I'll have a brain hemorrage);). Does any of the experts here have a recommended product link where to source it from? I don't mind paying good money for such an important device. That's not a tensioner guard. The guard is the collar you can see on the piston in my photo. You could just use the Porsche parts from the 930. Mechanical tensioner with safety collars. Solid tensioners are a baaaad idea in my view. No temperature compensation amongst other issues.

Thanks for your response Sir. Sorry for all my Newbies question but do you mean purchase a pair of 'mechanical tensioners with collars' as fitted to the 930? I don't even know if I have 'solid tensioners' in my 1968 Flat6.

This is all I thought I was going to have installed for some peace of mind (for the meantime)..

Yes, you need that and a rebuild kit for the mechanical tensioners (or you can buy new tensioners for $$$$). You shouldn't have solid tensioners in y our car unless someone installed aftermarket version. It isn't clear from your post. The Stomski link you provided seemed to imply that you wanted to use solid tensioners.
