New boltin roll bar...
As some of you may already know, I picked up a nice 4 pt bolt in roll bar this past weekend at Dunkel's.
Well, it went in no problem and even though this is my first rollbar install I was still able to asertain rather quikly that the front two mounting points are the outboard factory front lapbelt bolt holes and the rear two mounting points are the outboard rear flip-up seat-back bolt holes. It bolted up fine to these locations so here's my question:
When bolted up in place, there is an air gap underneth all four baseplates of 2"-front & 1" rear, meaning that the rollbar is suspended by the "sheer" forces of each bolt at all 4 mounting points. Is this right? or do I have to get individually custom shaped and contoured base plates fabricated under each point?
any insights are appreciated.
thanks!

John,
Is this truly a "roll bar" or simply a harness bar? Sounds very similar to the stainless bar in my car which is designed to be a place to attatch shoulder harnesses. How bout a pic. I can take apic of mine tomorrow if you like. Have a great weekend compadre

Hi CP...
It's a four point bolt in rollbar with diagonial cross brace on the back legs.
Definitly not a harness bar.....I took that out along with both front seats just so the thing will fit into the car.
Mike G. (Gburner) helped me carry it out to his truck at Dunkel's...then we dropped it off at mi casa.
Hope to see ya in Monterey at R-Gathering later this year!!!
cheers!!
