I'm trying to determine the correct one my my car. The car is Silver (if it makes a difference). Here's two pictures of 3 badges. The middle one is a cheap repro (not an option, but thought I'd include it for contrast). I hope the color contrasts come through, but the one on the left is more silver w/less color, the one on the right is more gold with more vivid red. Which one is correct on at '73S?
Here's the backs. I thought it was interesting to see the difference between the originals and the repro (center)

It looks like the 'Right Door' is number 3...
As mentioned before, it's getting damn hard to find a 'clean' period early (orange stripes) badge these days... and the ones on eBay are getting very expensive.
When I originally redid my car back in 90' I think I got the last of the first run of repops done for Stoddard and sold through Tweeks (when it was still in Long Beach) and it's pretty good.
The quality of subsequent runs of reproduction badges have been from just passable to outright crap... the problem is usually the color of the orange stripes. The stripes on an early badge should be (at least when it starts life) very close to Porsche Tangerine/Blood orange... the repops of late have come through with the stripes almost brown.
Although much more scarce now, the orignals are still around...
I look out for them at swap meets, shops, at the tracks, and guys garages... Always ask if it's for sale, sometimes you'll get lucky.
Some years ago I was at Button Willow Raceway talking to Mitch Rossi (of the European Car magazine 911-S build-up fame) and ask if he had an early badge... he looked over at a spare long hood he had in his pits (just in case) and gave me the badge right off it, probably thinking he'd never use it on a race car spare...
Still keep that one in my tool box 'just in case' ;)
I agree with Chuck, the one on the right has the original look. But you know, I like the custom look of the one on the left...might add that one to my fantasy hot rod...the hot rod 911 I've been building in my head for years, but never will in reality.
Thanks gents, for the proper badge info. Yet another thing to hunt down... it never really ends does it? Guess I wouldn't know what else to do if I wasn't hunting some sort of old car part.
Just to clarify a bit, the badge on the right is correct for all early cars through '73? Did it change at all through the early run? Is one of the other badges pictured correct for '74 and beyond?

The as far as I've learned the 'orange badges' continued through the first half of the 75' (H-Series) so you can have an early 75' with an orange badge… but certainly all of 74'.
Oh, the minutia of-it-all :(

As usual, you da man! We were pretty sure it was the right one, but on a Silver car, I have to admit that the one on the left looked pretty good so I wanted to be sure. Jared - want an extra one if he's got one? Paul - want the one on the left to put under your pillow for the hot rod fairy? Let me know.:D
