Living most of its life in Italy, after a two-year, total restoration by Porsche Padova this superlative 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 wowed the crowds at Villa d’Este in 2015 when it was awarded the trophy ‘Most Iconic Car’. Helping it stand out was the striking colour scheme of Orientgelb (Oriental Orange), a special-order colour from Fiat’s 1970s palette – the only 2.7 RS finished in this shade. The vibrant colour, the world-class restoration and the rare and desirable options ordered when new makes this 2.7 RS one of the best we have ever offered.
This Motor Car
Delivered new to (and most likely ordered by) well-established official Porsche dealer Hahn Automobile of Fehlbach, Germany, this 2.7 RS was unique in being the sole car finished in a Fiat colour ref 294, Giallo Oriente; Orientgelb in German, Oriental Orange in English. The interior was black Perlcord, a man-made cloth.
In addition to the M472 Touring package, options fitted were:
- Headrest left/right (258)
- Sports seat left/right (409)
- Three-point automatic seat belt left/right (419)
- Electric antenna, right
- Speakers (441)
- Electric sunroof (650)
- Electric windows (651)
After delivery in mid-1973, with 20,000km covered and still at Hahn, the car was bought by Claudio Del Bufalo, an Alitalia pilot then living in Rome. Hahn retained the car for a short while as a demonstrator, then Del Bufalo officially imported it to Italy on 10 April 1974. For the rest of its life it remained in Italy.
