Overhauling 1965 911 engine, screen mash question

Wondering if the screen mash insidethe case of a 1965 911 is necessary. CanÂ’t find a part number or replacment for it. I was told it may not be necessary and was thought to cut down on foaming, I am ready to put the engine back together so any help as to the need for screen mash will be appreciated.

Don't think many people put them back in. May be problems with the plastic around the edge coming apart, and that's not a good thing.
