Trying to Price 1966 911T
Hi All!
As the title says - I'm trying to appropriately price a 1966 911T that I bought in Bonn, Germany in 1982 from a State Department type working at the US Embassy. I tinkered with it but somehow got the timing chain mis-routed so my German neighbors called it "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". I eventually took it to a German Mechanic who corrected my mistakes got it painted and sold me Fuchs wheels. I shipped the car to Delaware in 1986 and drove it up to the Shore are of NJ where I put it in my primitive garage and basically forgot about it.
The car is a 1966 911T (not Targa) with sun roof with chassis number 305776. The engine, unfortunately, is not the original but a 1968 serial number 2089024 with Webers. It has Fuchs wheels but I have the original hub caps. About 15 years ago I put new stainless steel heat exchanges on it and discarded the original exchangers. I replaced the oil reservoir since the original had a couple of corroded patches (still have the repairable original)
It has been sitting for 28 years collecting dust. i'm 68 now and have also collected a little dust and my Lust (in the German sense) for restoring it has waned.
The good - relatively minor rust for a 48 year old car, does not appear to have been in any accidents (Germans weren't big into plastic repairs though), car is relatively complete less the deficiencies listed below.
The bad - engine was smoking when last run, has an oil leak (suspect a seal), windshield has crack and needs to be replaced, front pan under trunk was improperly installed and needs to be reinstalled. Headliner needs to be replaced. All hydraulic rubber needs to be replaced. Tires should obviously be replaced.
Here are three pictures. I have more should they be requested.
