Talking to a guy on Facebook about a 1973 Porsche 911T. They listed for $28.5 got him down to $23.5. it's in Kansas. Appears super clean and well maintained....I told him I can do 20 tops and he said "come down and look at it and we'll talk"
Not sure Im going to jump over to Kansas for ~$500 just to 'look'

I don't understand the flak for this. It's 73. this is a forum for '73s. I understand it's had its motor swapped out.....
Im looking to purchase a car in such a price range that the originality of the motor to the chassis, etc. does not matter to me, as I will likely be using it for street/track and will likely upgrade the motor anyway or at least modify it.
I understand that both Beverly Hills and The other I posted are dealers - but the cars are 'ok' and run... and are within my budget. I'm not expecting a perfect car. I don't see what the issue is here. I'm not looking to restore a factory original car to perfect condition to let sit and rot in my garage... I'm buying one to drive - and my first 911, at that. (not the family's first) so for now I want something in this range and am fine with semi-frankenstein cars, since I want to learn the car and how to work on them etc now and later when I have more disposable income and the experience with the cars, I will seek out a more pristine 'collector's' example for my stable.'
keeping that in mind, I would appreciate constructive response instead of simply dismissing everything - maybe give reasons - and thinking that I am attempting to troll the forum (who has time for that?)

a '67 with a 3.0 swap and 915 trans. Some 'race prep (roll cage etc) but street legal' windows replaced etc. Motor has broken stud and other issues so much that the owner doesn't want to invest the time.... may be good candidate for an original swap? He's asking $15.9k
And what would you be willing to spend to get that engine repaired, back together, and in the car?
We're talking prices to purchase the car. The budget I have up is for purchasing the car. I can't know how much I'm willing to spend on issues I don't know about. I am waiting for the owner's response. Even if it costs $5k to have the motor done, it's still seemingly a solid '67 for about $20k with a freshly redone motor...
It probably sounds like a bunch of guys here are raining on your parade. It's like when you were a kid and your dad told you not to do something and you had to do it anyway. He had already learned that lesson but you weren't willing to take his word for it. This experience is going to be the same way. Drag one of those fright pigs home and after you spend 20 or 30k making it right you'll think back to these comments and realize these guys actually knew what they were talking about from experience.

Perhaps a 912 w/an engine swap is the way to go...as you have listed above. Unfortunately, a longhood 911 chassis without serious $$$ rust is a bit more expensive.
OR maybe you get an impact bumper car in decent shape for your budget. Good luck with your search.
