Rick- yep the ribbing does appear pretty much identical. One thing I have noticed that seems to be different from the regular deep sixes is the ridge running 'round the circumference of the inner side of the barrel is more prominent on the 6R's.
Also if the 7R's were made from the deep six blank then the 6R's must have been made from something else as they're lighter than my 7R's. I guess the 5.5x15's were being produced in late '67 for the '68 model year... maybe 6R's were made from these? Then again that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me- if the factory had a deep six blank to make 7R's then wouldn't it be easier to just use these deep sixes for the front 911R rims?? Of course if the goal was to save all precious ounces possible then I guess it would make sense.

I wish we would have talked about this before I went to Klub Sport so I could compare. The inner lip on these is thinner than the outer lip. Again Porsche did their homework and made it thicker AND lighter. I wonder where they lost the ounces from?

I passed on Rick's wheels only because I have too many right now and would create an incomplete set. The wheels looked great in the additional pics he sent. Good luck Rick
Cheers,
The Tire Kicker
