Not much said about this swap...(pro vs con). Appears quite tidy.

Along the lines of this thread's title, is anyone else watching a certain auction going just now?
- Seven-figure 916s are nothing new.
- Seven-figure 914-6 R/GTs? Sure, more than one instance.
- Six-figure series production 914-6 street cars? Yep, they've been around a while.
But a six conversion knocking on the door of $$$,$$$? Didn't expect that. Will be interesting to see if the sale goes through, and whether this is the week the 914 goes Icon Bronco (or insert your favorite resto-mod here)—where buyers want what they want, how they want it.
I don't think anyone expected that... I'd have to say it's not unlike what a pair of bidders might battle for a particular custom build, and somewhat outside accepted norms.
The winner is essentially buying the cost of construction. Good for the seller, although as in most cases like this, he didn't see much profit.
I've been watching the BAT auction and I'm a little surprised the seller didn't let it go for the $103K final bid. I'm sure they were hoping to get closer to what Gaswerks sold their Metallic Gold '72 914/6 tribute last April......$150K. Gaspare builds some very cool cars.....he has a '67 911R tribute for sale right now for over $200K.
