    FS: 1969 911 S Tangerine / Fawn Sunroof a/c coupe

    SOLD ,another off to Europe!

I have yet to post this car anywhere else ,since I derive such pleasure ,knowledge and pure amazement on this site only thought it appropriate to give Early S Registry members and viewers first crack.

Some may be familiar with a thread I posted about a year and a half back of being reunited with this vehicle from my childhood and believe you me it's not without some considerable hesitation that I have decided to list it for sale.

Over a good portion of the last year I have diligently refreshed and recommissioned just about each and every system ,component and integral part of the car to get it back to serviceable standing.

The mileage is 60,800 . VIN 119300151 Eng 6390065 (matching per COA)

Included are the original Service booklet, owners manual, complete tool bag and jack .
Even the Blaupunkt Frankfurt operstors manual has ridden along patiently (unopened) for 45 years and is included.
Sales receipt from Manhattan Motorcar for $5750.00

It has nearly 100 % original paint which is outstanding in color, texture and depth a few small door dings but nothing that cannot be easily removed by a competent specialist.

Interior is complete and original including the carpet with the exception of the front seats which have been replaced and are really a far better match than the original set .

The suspension has been thoroughly freshened with renewed Koni struts, inserts, bushings, bearings, and powdercoated A arms and cross-member.
Rear Koni units replaced with new.

The braking system has newly plated calipers, new seals.aluminum pistons in the front set ,new discs ,pads ,lines (both steel and rubber).

The starting and charging systems include new Marchal alternator, Bosch reman starter, replacement Bosch CDI 3 Pin box, Volt Reg, coil, cap ,wires, points,7300 RPM rotor ,spark plugs .

The engine injection lines were removed ,cleaned ,blasted then Zinc plated (silver).
Fan and shroud refinished ,cleaned heatexchangers and muffler replaced with new Dansk stainless units.

The gas tank was removed and refreshed and is in remarkable condition. fuel lines removed and replaced where indicated.
All fluids gas,oil and transmission gear lube drained and refreshed Swepco in the trans, Castrol for the
    engine.
All filters fuel ,oil and air and any associated heating hoses renewed as well.
The oil tank , engine oil cooler ,front fender cooler and shroud were all removed ,drained of all contents ,cleaned ,tanked repaired where necessary and powder coated with satin black paint.
All engine tin ,mounts and cradle removed refinished and powder coated fresh satin as well.

The front pan ,tank support, interior floor pans ,rear seat pans and rear window shelf are all original and in excellent condition ,the rock guard and undercoat has been refreshed in places where it was chjpped and flaking but is mostly what came originally .

The wheels are five date stamped deep 6 Fuchs in great to excellent condition with no bends or curbing that can't be easily refinished.

This 911 was sold originally in San Antonio Tex to Charles Urschel and Tom Slick at International Motors the VW Concessionaire in 1969.
My friend whose family purchased the car obtained it in 1974/75 from Manhattan Motorcars in Washington DC on Rhode Island Av NW .
His family has kept the car the last 37 years until I obtained it from his brothers widow in Annapolis Md in Feb 2012 .

Love that you left the door dings! Makes for a nice 'honest' kinda car --- especially w/ the paint

Thank you for posting it here, too

I also recognize your name from your contributions to Flunder's Olive Tart

    Good stuff

    Lovely car, GLWS

Out of interest, I own a car just 3 chassis numbers later, it's RHD (119300154) with engine number 6390241, same colour too, sunroof Coupe.

Just shows how random the production line was at that time, I know mine was one of the first RHD cars, normally they made batches of cars together, but interesting how yours being LHD only 3 chassis numbers earlier. If you wouldn't mind PM me your production number Bert to compare with mine....

Engine numbers quite a bit apart too, difference of 176. That's a big jump, I know my engine has the later space cam in the pump (number 47) which was deemed an improvement. My car was a Porsche GB demonstrator, so maybe Porsche were keen to ensure that the press received the latest engine ?. It would be interesting to learn what space cam is fitted in your pump Bert. Am sure you know how to tell, but just to be sure, remove your airbox, and it is stamped on the top of the pump at the front just forward of the type plate

Price seems low Bert ! Seriously. It is lovely.
You posted 7-22-2013 that you were going to sell to fund another project. Hope that project is worth it, because this sounded like it was a heirloom to you. I guess there is no place for sentimentality in the modern world. Pity. A man and his car should not soon be parted.

Thanks for the thought Ravi yes I certainly have mixed feelings about letting this one go ..it's kind of like letting one of your kids go out into the world !
A close buddy of mine and I were remarking that very sentiment but at the same time feeling like hey we've found the Holy Grail now pass it on to the next admirer !
I've had a few more interested parties contact me but nothing solid yet quite a few offers ...still available thanks Bert

Ok car is still available despite a few interested parties taking a close look and remarking hey there's a bump here and a scratch there!
HaHa never said the car was a show car or perfect but what 45 year old doesn't have a few bumps and bruises by this time
    I know I sure do!
One last go round before EBay oh no! Bert
