    Searching a 911's ownership history

I own a 1970 S, which I purchased in 2002, when it had 11,000. The car now has 18,000 miles. I have records back to 1990 and the car had approximately 9,000 miles at that time. Is it possible that I could have an original 18,000 mile car?,,,,, well, I am trying to figure that out. Many things point to the fact that it may very well be (I kind of hope is has 118,000 miles, so I can keep driving it!) It was clearly a California car as all the paperwork (repair invoices) and former owner addresses on the paperwork are from California, but I have no paperwork from 1970 to 1990. That is a rather long period of time.

I paid a fee to search on the California DMV and came up with virtually nothing. The DMV records seemed to identify the car (or was just repeating the data I had to enter), but showed little. I have a friend who owns a Ferrari (can you imagine I am friends with him!) and with his car there was a person that he paid and who traced the car from the day it left Ferrari to the date he purchased it in 2004.

Does anyone know if such a person does this for vintage Porsche cars? Any leads or information is appreciated.

    Thank,

    Johns

    Yes . . .

I believe that Jim Perrin(?) does this for Porsches. Costs ~$1500? --- and, as I understand it . . . involves combing through old Panos and various chapter news letters

You might try posting this topic over on the 356 Registry board. The Four-Cam Guys are probably the ones who have the most experience w/ this kinda stuff
