    Canepa's May '14 Cars & Coffee

    Without question the biggest, best attended Canepa open-house yet. Great weather, lots of new cars, the shops full of fascinating projects, a huge number of new visitors who've apparently gotten word that this is THE definitive event in the area on the 2nd Saturday of every month, and getting together with good people……….how do you top that.

    Today's presentation will have to be completely random without a lot of commentary and descriptions, because it's going to be a busy day……….( Spanish F1 Grand Prix, start of the Amgen Tour of California, a hike). I've arranged the photos in the order of parking lot, then the show room, then the area where I think all the good stuff happens - the shop, then the storage area and for the first time, a glimpse into the Museum and some of its treasures.

    I won't be able to submit reports in June, July and most likely August, so a few extra photos this time around………….Enjoy !

    moving on into the packed showroom with some of the more interesting offerings.

    Incidentally, the B & W Mercedes is a 2008 SL65 AMG 'Black Series' Coupe, developed directly from M-Bs F1 Safety car program. Carbon fibre panels, 6.0 liter twin-turbo V12 making 661 HP, 0-60 in 3.7 sec. 200mph top - the highest performance M-B ever………..one of 175 imported to the US.

    On into the shop area, where all the magic takes place, and where I have learned more about neatness, cleanliness, fastidious work practices, and how to do things effectively than anywhere else or from anyone else.

    To me, Canepa's shop, the way it is run, equipped, and the mindset, enthusiasm and level of training of the people working there is the very embodiment of the old adage that if you're going to do something important, do it once and do it right.
