'. . . A genuine, LHD Porsche 2.7 Carrera RS Lightweight, delivered new in West Germany in March 1973 - finished in Light Ivory with black Carrera scripts and additionally fitted from new with the desirable optional extras no: 220: Limited-slip differential; 102: Heated rear window; 433: Fog lights above bumper and 440: Retractable antenna . . .
. . . Delivered new to German racing driver Fritz Muller, Lightweight chassis #0898 was first road-registered in Germany as M-NX-157 and immediately entered into competition within EC-GT (European GT Championship) races, DRM (German National Championship) and hill climbs. In late 1973 Muller had the engine up-rated to 2.8 litres and by 1976 he had the car up-rated further still to ‘74 Group 4 RSR spec. After competing with the car for several years, Muller sold it in 1978 to fellow countryman, Ruper Kloiber who retained it until 1985. It then passed to its third owner, Dirk Sadlowski (Germany), who kept the car for a further 14 years before eventually selling it,in 1999, to UK collector and BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club) member Lord Max Beaverbrook. In 2001 Beaverbrook had the car prepared for him by Francis Tuthill and brought back to Group 3, 2.7 RS specification and then sold it, in 2003, to David Littlewood (UK). Littlewood continued to improve the car mechanically with Neil Bainbridge (BS Motorsport), who carried out an engine rebuild in 2004, before selling #0898 to its 6th owner, Charlie Remnant (UK) . . .
. . . Maxted-Page & Prill then took over historic race preparation and maintenance of the car for Charlie Remnant and supported the car at various historic competition events, including the Tour Auto in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, Remnant sold the car on to Michael Birch (UK) who, after successfully competing in two consecutive Tour Britania events, decided that the time had come finally to retire #0898 from competition work and have it fully restored back to its original road specification . . .
. . . Maxted-Page & Prill Limited were commissioned to carry out a ground-up restoration, stripping the car back to the tub and overhauling / rebuilding almost every mechanical component over a three-year period, which resulted in a concours win at Hedingham Castle in 2012 and an invitation to the Cartier Style et Luxe at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Since then, in the ownership of the last keeper, #0898 has remained UK road-registered and has no longer been driven in anger but instead, enjoyed as one of the greatest classic road cars ever built, of which these very special and highly-prized Porsche 2.7 Carrera RS Lightweights are now recognised . . .'
