Hi, with that serial number your car is a 1968 911 "Normal" not an "S". It looks to be in very nice condition. I also have a 68 Normal though mine is far from stock. Would you post some more pictures? I'm sure you would get a lot more help on value if we had some engine, trunk and interior shots.

Good luck with it. It's a great driving car.

Welcome aboard Rob. This is a good place to come to talk about your car. You might want to ask the moderators to move your thread out of the For Sale forum to the General forum, lest some reader being mistaken that you're trying to sell this family heirloom.

In regards to your question, 911S's , except in a couple of race specific instances, were not imported into the US in 1968. In its place the factory created a one year model called the 911L, which had all the trimmings of the "S", without the higher performance engine. Additionally, the factory had the base model available in the states, which is commonly referred to here as a Normal. These Normals had bodies that were built (stamped) at both the Porsche factory as well as a supplier named Karmann.

The VIN number you provided would indicate that your car is a Normal having a Karmann body.

    All the best, J
