    100 liter fuel tank....how rare in a 1967 911S?

    Hi all -

Anyone care to hazard a guess how many (or what percentage) left the factory with this option? Any input appreciated.

‘67 911S Canary/Lemon yellow, sunroof coupe produced w/100L tank. Until determined otherwise, 306943S appears to be 1 of 1, and among the earliest 911’s with a 100L tank. The 911’s initial participation in a competitive event, the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally, was fitted with a 100L tank (#300055). Seeking additional info on earliest 100L tank fitments to 911’s.

‘70 914/6 (2.7l RS spec engine, but searching for 6404915 original)

    Hard-to-Find

    My guess? . . .

    . . . less than 1% of production . . . a few hundred, at best

Anybody have their Red Book handy?

The Restorer Guys --- and the Long-time Mechanic Guys . . . can prolly give a more-authoritative figure from their experience, but --- if it's anything like 356? . . . 911 Big Tanks are HtF

Even on our site --- I think I've seen more Big Tanks out of a car . . .

    . . . than in

Numbers Produced: 100 Liter Fuel Tank

Red Book shows that the (steel) 100 liter tank was an option from '67 to '70, but --- not available in the US after '68

No option code listed until '69 = 9499

    As for production numbers . . .
    ..'67 911 production totals = ~7500
    ..'68 (ditto) = ~16950
    ..'69 (ditto) = ~9100 - 50% (for cars delivered to the US) = 4550
    ..'70 (ditto) = ~14450 - 50% (ditto) = ~7250

    Guesstimation for total 911s produced = 36250 X 1% = 363 tanks

    Plus --- I've read/heard of Big Tanks turning-up in 912s, but . . . I'm assuming that would be an even flukier occurrence, so? . . . add 100 tanks?

    Then --- over-the-counter spares + etc = 50 more?

    Ballpark = ~500 units?

    Now --- add 45 years = . . . . . . . . ?

    . . . and don't forget the sender

    . . . 75 units

Come to think of it --- I don't think that I've seen a Big Tank that was NOT dated as a '67 . . .

    . . . ever
