1970 911T Targa - Paint to Sample
1955 Cessna C-170B (Gone but not forgotten.)
According to the original paperwork the car was delivered through dealer 301. Online research shows that as Rockville. Original owner was from Wilmington Delaware so that fits. If anyone has info that indicates otherwise I would be interested in knowing.

Porsche taste on a Volkswagen budget...
Thanks for that
1970 is kinova pivotal year for Porsche. Seems that they over-hauled their entire dealer + distribution network --- especially the dealers . . . and it's interesting to me to see any sales histories, documents --- or swag . . . from that time.
Who made it. And who didn't
Anyway --- here are the dealers that I have records for, for MD . . .
Capitol Porsche Audi, Inc --- circa '73
3110 Hamilton St
Hyattsville
------------
Forty West Volkswagen, Inc --- up to ~'70
6624 Baltimore National Pike
Baltimore
. . . becoming etc Porsche Audi --- 'till '73
611 Frederick Road
Catonsville
------------
Manhattan Auto, Inc --- up to '69
7701 Wisconsin Ave
Bethesda
. . . becoming etc Porsche Audi --- thru '73
------------
Towson Valley Motors --- up to '72
103 East Pennsylvania Ave
. . . moving to 801 North York Rd --- '73
Hm. Good stuff
Well, here's another thread --- about Dealer codes . . . for 1969, though . . .

You might try contacting The Archives --- ask them who Händler Nr '301' was in '70
Anyway --- HtH
In the early seventy's. I beleave that Rockville Porsche was also owned by Hicheman's (SP) Porsche another old dealer from Northern Va. My father picked his 914/6 up there. And we spent a lot time in the two dealerships. And at the autocrosses with the sales staff from the two dealerships. There were a lot of nice race cars floating around the two dealerships. Dad was big time into the scene back in the day, I was in my early teens. Was still at the same location as of two years ago, when I last went thru Rockville seeing old friends.

I don't believe Heishman's was ever officially affiliated with Manhattan or Capital. I would not be surprised if there was an informal dealership trade network with all of those guys. The lead salesman at Heishman was Chic Stanton who was very active in the local scene, participated in the Cannonball etc. so there would be a chance that the car may have ben delivered to one of the other dealerships and then dealer traded to another. Shopping patterns in DC are influenced by the Potomac...it is true even today...folks who live in MD don't come to VA and vice versa.
If you are looking for a "Rockville" surround, that dealership is still in town, owned by a huge conglomerate now...I won't be pot metal, but I bet if you called them, they would send you one. I believe the current Rockville store started life as Manhatten, those surrounds will be tougher to find. Not sure who bought Capital, there is no dealership on that side of town anymore and those surrounds are hard to find. Heishman is now Porsche of Alexandria and the old Heishman surrounds are hard to find. The later VA dealership would have been HBL which is now Porsche of Tysons and owned by Penske
