    Boosting a 3.0 1978

I'd like to hit the wall fast and move it far while am in.

I have a European 3.0SC 1978 full stock. I plan to open the can, mix new ingredients for a new taste = hot and spicy level 2 (Torquy and up to 7000rpm)

    I have heard/read many articles about upgrading : 964 / S / 6.8 camshafts, K-tronic or Carbs, RSR pistons, High compression/ twin plugs etc...
I do not want to change the displacement (still 3.0 L)

Let's target 40- hp increase, 7000 Rpm max, start to rev nicely at 3500...

    Je suis tout ouie

Thanks Phil. Have already the SSIs. 964 Cams are easy to find, PMO instead of Webers.
Any idea about pistons and valve guides ?

No other experience in here ?

    Cheers

I guess that it depends what you want to spend ?

My SCR engine has sodium filled valves intake and exhaust and lightweight valve train components. Special con-rods with increased length centre to centre, and custom pistons (95mm) with offset pins that optimise the geometry internally of the con-rod angle for maximum efficiency. The crowns are also optimised to maximise the squish in the combustion chamber.....

The parts are custom made to my own specification in the United Kingdom, and offer in my opinion the ultimate package for a 3.0 SC based engine.

The next stage would be to consider twin plug, my engine is single plug for its FIA Homologation, but we can easily build a twin plug version, in fact we have one in build currently for a client that will also include our custom exhaust system with equal length headers, 3 into 2 into 1 tuned length with true merge collectors. Topped off with High Butterfly MFI system with RSR red top Fuel pump, should be good for 315bhp+ in its rally spec or 340bhp+ as a full race motor..

You would have to re profile a cam to S specs, as a true S cam would be three bearing and 47mm journals, but the SC is four bearing and 49mm journals.

We have new four bearing cams ground to S specs if that's what you want...

one of my friend is using a DC 40 and is a bit disapointed by the fact that the torque is not in at low/mid rev.
    Have you experienced it ?
