    Nick,

I am not in the market for a decklid, therefore not a potential buyer, I am not a moderator with any authority whatsoever, nor do I represent the ESReg in any official capacity other than being a longterm, paying and enthusiastic member, but I do take severe issue with your posting of this item and particularly your description of the item as being " in good condition".

Yes, I know you posted very clear photos and that there appears to be no intent to deceive, and I can see the condition of the lid and judge the lids condition for myself, it therefore comes down to personal interpretation of just what constitutes 'good condition' and the specific needs of a potential buyer. That's hardly surface rust and most certainly will not 'buff out'. That lower, inner frame is rusted out and needs to be re-constructed, and no matter how loose an interpretation of 'good condition' one chooses to apply to this part, IT IS NOT in good condition ! I would think that a part described as being in good condition could be installed on a car as is ( ignoring the color mismatch ) and function as designed.

I am perfectly aware that I may be perhaps unfairly lumping your post with another post of a few days ago which advertised a worthless ring and pinion gear set for $ 400.00 ( as I see it the ring & pinion set could not be reapired realistically, whereas with enough time, money and skill someone could salvage your rusted out lid and mount it on their car ) but what does concern and disturb me is, in my view, the appearance of two similar ads on this Registry of severly compromised parts at outlandish prices and only a few days apart, may represent the start of an ugly new, and in my opinion, totally unacceptable & unhealthy trend, completely devoid of any effort to respect other member's (and potential buyers) intelligence.

To emphasize, I am just voicing my opinion as a concerned member with only the long-term image and overall quality of the Early 911 S Reg. at heart. If someone wants to clean out their trash pile, I'm all for it, but I submit that taking it to a local swapmeet and making the best deal you can is the best way to market items like that………….while leaving the Early S Reg. out of it.

Just because prices of certain Porsches and parts have increased singificantly lately simply does not constitue sufficient reason & incentive to relax the quality and integrity standards this registry has worked hard to maintain for many years.

    Respectfully,

    JZG
