Service offered: SWB turn signal restoration

6/16/14 Edit: Thanks for the interest, but I have decided not to offer this service.

I've restored a number of SWB turn signals in the past and have decided to offer the service on a core exchange basis. As you are probably aware, the supply of correctly marked and colored "Bosch" lenses has been spotty at times. I believe that I have found a reliable supplier for these now.

    The restoration process includes:

o "Resilvering" of interior of housings - actually copper and nickel plating followed by vapor deposited aluminum and silica layer (same process used on H1 reflectors). Much brighter than the common rattle can treatment.

o Show quailty rechroming of exterior chrome trim edges

    o New correct lenses installed

    o New correct mounting screws

o New or refurbished bulb holders

    o New bulbs

Average cost is $500 per signal, may vary a bit depending on core condition.

    Thanks,
    John

Thanks for doing this John ! Few questions for you:

    o Are you using Marek's lenses ?

o Since you are offering core exchange I am assuming the wait time is shorter, Yes ?

o Do you have pics of a sample set you restored recently ?

    Thanks again John !

Thanks for the inquiry - answers to your questions:

o My source for lenses is not Marek. I suppose my source could be getting them from the same place in German where he gets them.

o At this time I will be restoring your cores. I estimate the process will take a couple of months due to the plating and availability of lenses. I'm kicking around the idea of having a few loaner sets on hand that I can send out while the waiting for the restoring ones.

    o Here you go:

    Thanks for asking.

Few more pictures of some I did about a year ago and sold here:

I've upped the bar since then as I now have the interior "resilvered" (maybe I should refer to that as re-reflectorized or somesuch).

    Thanks,
    John

    John,

What's your price if I already have my Marek sourced lenses (new and uninstalled)?

$300 per turn signal including all of the plating if you supply the lenses.

I appreciate all of the interest in turn signal (and H1) restoration. I think I've responded to all of the inquiries at this point.
