    Strange that the riveted-on ID plate inside the trunk appears to be stamped on a plate that looks to be upside down, and something looks odd with the stamped body number below it. May be nothing, but given what this car will sell for I would investigate further...

    Also the vin number on the plate is raised numbers (embossed) not indented into the plate (debossed) is this correct?

    Raised numbers is correct (embossed). Indented is way earlier.

    My 65 911 #17xx has the chassis number indented into the plate and "fixed" numbers (those found on all plates for a given model) raised.

    I thought we were discussing the VIN number in the trunk itself, not the one in the plate. Sorry. Looks like a correct plate to me.

    It has the wrong crest on the hood, what else is wrong? That is an obvious error.
