FS (maybe): Rear Bumper Bows (maybe)

    ** SOLD **

I was cleaning my shop and came across these which have been a riddle to me. I don't remember when or where I got them, but my research indicates that they are a pair of what Porsche referred to as "bumper bows" in an Accessories Catalog (Zubehor) dated 1970:

They appear to be freshly chromed. Where it gets a little mysterious is that the threads for the mounting bolts appear to have been rethreaded and not to be metric. I haven't tried a SAE bolt as I don't have any. A 10mm starts but doesn't fit. They're either something very close to the Porsche bars that have been messed with or they're something very close to the Porsche bars that aren't the Porsche bars.

Here's a picture with the bars from the Zubehor mounted on a Porsche:

I really like the look. Here's a picture of the bars I have mocked up to some bumper guards:

If these are real they are a very rare option and it's a waste to have them sitting on my shelf. It would be simple to rethread and mount them. But I don't want to sell them if they're not genuine Porsche. I would be glad to send them to anyone who has a preliminary interest for further inspection and we can go from there. The forum rules dictate a price so how about $10.00 which should be about half the shipping and a price to be agreed upon later if you want to keep them?

    Thanks,
    John

Wow John, very generous nonetheless! If you hadn't already sold me a "real" (it was real, wasn't it?!) set earlier I'd be ll over the "odds" on these!

As we dig a little deeper into these bars it would be helpful to compare the ends where they attach to the bumper guards to the more common single nudge bar that curves in and mounts on the outside of bumper guard. Can someome provide a couple pictures of the threaded inside of the bar where it attaches? Also, can you tell us what size bolt fits in the mounting socket?

    Thanks,
    John
