    FS: Becker TR AM/FM Radio

    ** SOLD **

This is the Becker Europa TR offered as an option for late 60's Porsches. Beckers were more common on Mercedes-Benzs but they were also a highend option on Porsches. One way to tell to tell the difference between those used in Porsches and those used in Mercedes is that the ones used for Porsches had a smaller chrome trim surround that accommodated the push through mount in the 911 dash:

Here's what the TR used in the MBs looked like:

I got this for a friend who had recently purchased a highly optioned Euro '67 911S that had a Becker TR listed on his Certificate of Authenticity. Then he found his original radio in the things that came separately with the car. He even had the original booklet with the serial number confirming that he had the original radio. The one I had gotten for him was exactly the same model so I know it's spot on as an option for 1967 at least.

This was well over a year ago. I went ahead and sent it out for refurbishing and promptly forgot about it until I heard from the Radio Doc that it was ready to go. He completely rebuilt it - here is the list of work performed that he provided me with:

    • Replaced all defective/out of spec components
    • Replaced dial lamp
    • Remounted green dial lamp lens
    • Refinished dial pointer
    • Cleaned dial background
    • Cleaned & polished dial crystal and chrome housing
    • Provided in-line fuseholder w/fuse
    • Cleaned/polished station selector pushbuttons
    • Cleaned bandswitch contacts
    • Clean/relube tuner mechanism
    • Clean/relube station setting mechanisms
    • Clean radio interior/exterior
    • Realign all tuned circuits

It comes as pictured. I think the larger black knobs might be better and it might be missing the metal (plastic?) chrome rings behind the black ones. Other than that this is a upscale radio in perfect operating condition correct for late 60's 911s.

$390.00 plus shipping - reasonable offers encouraged.

    Thanks,
    John
