What could be the ownership history or provenience to justify that auction estimate?

this is the car that was 'found' in paso robles and sold through EC. It has very low miles, original paint, etc. John posted some pictures from the parade in Monterey featuring this car.

I've seen this car in person/up close.

    Breathtaking example.

But an estimate that takes one's breath away as well.

Shows to go you that cars built at the factory by Germans will be the most dear. Even the finest restorations in the world done where ever will not trump original painted, plated and assembled parts. For street cars that is. Preserve all the originality you can, it is worth it in more ways than one.

This is not your garden variety, run-o-the-mill 66 911.

A car like this can't be "made".

Far more value than the nicest restored 65 on the planet.

Right on Steve! I'll take original recipe over a big $ restoration any day...

Where did Gooding get an estimate like that...it's insane! Has a '66 ever sold for even half that amount?

Makes mine look like a bargain.
