Emissions box or tank under Dash is Loose

I thought I'd seen a thread or post on this but the search is not being my friend...

I am trying to figure out how to put that little black box back and attach it properly. It seems the rubber band that Porsche used is NLA, so I was thinking of an O-ring (but could never find one that large). I finally bought some thin elastic bungie cords in black.

But now I am trying to figure out what orientation the box should be in -- are the hoses supposed to be on top?

And, is there any sort of thing on the box itself to keep the stretch band from moving? i don't see anything when I try to stick a flashlight up under there.

Next question is whether it is easier to do this from the trunk or from the cabin side -- all the gauges are out for some other work.

Finally, has anyone ever had a concours judge look up under there to see if the original elastic is in place?

I have checked to see if the air is factory - fuel was in tank when it left factory and battery acid was put in there by Gunther on the assembly line
