    Introducing 304598

    So, after being on the Board for a while, gaining knowledge and confidence, I thought it is about time to post some photos of 304598 and the work I have been doing with her.

    First the disclaimer(s):

    1 - 304598 is the first Porsche I ever owned - have driven a lot of new ones over the years but always wanted my first one to be a real one.

    2 - I never thought I would be able to find one in suitable condition at a price I can afford (young family, etc.,).

    3 - There was a story to finding the car and buying the car (as always, I guess).

    4 - When I finally got the car home after buying her and getting her checked out mechanically I discovered the rust that had been conveniently 'hidden from view' during the purchase process, and I was greatly discouraged (to say the least).

    5 - Having had company cars for many years, this was the first time I have ever attempted any kind of work on a car other than putting gas in and checking the oil...

    Second, the pictures I took when I first saw the car:

    Out of the garage onto the trailer...

    Not exactly a 'barn find' as the car was in a suburban garage...

    I know the eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted several flaws already, but, to my eyes, everything was just about perfect at this point!

    ...but it seems to me there are a lot of things right (I think) too. I have the same shift knob, I see some with the shift pattern on the knob, but yours, like mine, is plain. What is the story on the floor mats? Mine also has the rubber mats yet I see a lot of cars with short nap fabric mats too.
