    Cleaning/Stripping Carb Manifolds?

I have just removed my Weber carbs and would like to remove and clean the manifolds (covered in grime and peeling paint). I would like to remove the old peeling paint and clean them up before putting everything back together. Just wondering what others have used to remove the paint (glass bead blast, paint stripper?) and what paint was used to repaint them? The paint is black or should I leave them without the paint? Would love to hear what others have done. Thanks.

I used a 10 gallon bucket of carb dip to strip mine.

Thanks. What is carb dip, is that the brand name? Also did you repaint you manifolds? If so what did you use for paint.

Is powder coating an option, or do they get too hot?

Carb dip is a general generic name for a group of products that does this job... This for example:

Most don't paint their manifolds, they look great in raw aluminum.... if they do sometimes with flat black high temp paint...

    Not a good option......

    Hope this helps,

Just thought I would follow up on this in case anyone else is planning this. I was using Permatex Gasket Remover to clean off the old gaskets and noted it also stripped the paint so I ended up using 1.5 cans of the Permatex to remove all the gasket residue and paint from both manifolds. Did a great job in cleaning them up and used a HT black satin paint to refinish.
