2.2 T Pastelblue restoration in Italy

    Dear all,

I'd like to share with you some photos of my adventure...it is the restoration of a 2.2T MY70...it was one of the ugliest chassis I've ever seen! rust everywere, quite common for 356s but never seen a situation like this on a 911.

I bought it for just one reason: the car was updated (not well) as a 2.7 Carrera, painted silver but inside the engine lid I found a little corner with the original paint, pastel blue, such an awesome colour! So we decided to buy it; fortunately it was totally matching number (also production numbers on the doors, as well) but it was totally, totally rusty!

The question was: is it valuable to make a professional restoration on a T instead on a S model? The answer is on the following photos!

Here is how it was and how it will become:

    Enrico:

I love the color! You have much courage to undertake such a rusty project. We are a little spoiled over here in the AZ desert...little rust. Keep posting pics...fun to see.

    Enrico,

The restoration work looks fantastic - thanks for saving another one.

Quick question - in the photo showing the fuse panels, are the fuse panels new or restored? If restored, what process was used to restore them?

    Thanks,
    Frank

Thanks Frank! It seems incredible but the fuse panels are the originals, cleaned and washed with thinner/diluent ...and a lot of patience!

    Karmann-built? . . .

    Interesting photo

Where was this number found? . . .
. . . and does it correspond to any other numbers on the car? . . .

    . . . and here's another thread on this topic . . .

And I can appreciate how you chose your car just from seeing the color. I did the same

    And thanks for posting/inspiring . . .

    Hi Rick,
These are the last 3 digits of the production number on the doors, while on the dashboard and on the tunnel (beside the gearbox "hole"), the production number is complete. This car is a Karmann.
