    Really nice Ron!

As an H1 nerd I'm interested in the arrangement of the spring retainers. I've always wondered how many were used and if they were always installed in the same pattern. Nice to look at a NOS set. Things don't look to be uniform with this pair. I suspect it varied. Oddly the pattern used on one of yours is very close to what I use in my restorations.

(Nerd is an accurate term, is it not?)

I agree, I doubt the guys that assembled these had a specific pattern to install the clips, they probably just grabbed a handful of clips and randomly installed them with no regard to spacing.

Actually, going back and looking at all four, they seem to be pretty similar in terms of how the clips are arranged. That being said, I'll leave it to the experts!

    Nice lights!

Last time I saw a set of NOS H1s was at the local PCA swap meet in 1999. First vendor I come to has a pair new in original boxes. He wants $100 for the pair. I picked them up, decided I didn't need them, put them back down. Ten minutes later they were sold, no big deal. Things sure have changed!

Each light should be assembled the same way.

John, care to share the pattern you use in some detail?

    Thanks

Please educate me. Why do some H1 lenses have raised scripts and some don't?

I've identified six different H1 lenses, there may be more:

    Clear, raised lettering on outside - 1305 614 007
I think these were early. I have found them on lamps with the old style bulb holders.

    Clear, raised lettering on outside - 1305 614 010
The ones generally considered to be "originals", but were probably predated by the 007's

    Clear, letters on inside - 1305 614 010
Followed the previous generation many years ago. These remained in production for many years and may have been recently discontinued as the appear to be NLA

Currently available ones with incorrect lettering. I haven't seen any of these. They're produced in Czechoslovakia and I think have "AL" instead of Bosch

And a couple of amber ones:

    Amber, letters on outside - 1305 614 007
    Most likely early ambers

    Amber, letters on inside - 1305 614 010
Don't know if these are still available

1 305 614 007-008. Ive had these in clear, havent seen one in yellow but I think it was probably the first version with one mold for both. I have some early yellow, 1 305 614 008 with the taller fluting. 1 305 614 007 is clear with taller fluting. The yellow lenses with 010 ending are fakes made with a mold from a clear lens, brilliant! Later yellow lenses are 1 305 614 11, in smooth and raised letter versions. There are also RHD lenses of which I know very little. Ive only seen AL on H4 lenses.
