    FS: @eBay - 1965/66 911 VIN 301773

    $_57a.jpga$_57.jpg$_57.jpgNo affiliation...

Currently at $21,000... needs a bundle of work, but some parts appear to be original (light switch and ignition lock, gauges, etc)...

Interesting... definitely a 1965 car. Wonder why it is titled as a '66? Usually it's the other way around!

Probably totally legit. In the mid-60s, many states issued titles based on the date of sale, not the model year. If the car sat unsold into January '66, it could easily have received a '66 title.

At one time it was desirable to register your car as a newer model year than the year of actual production, probably to offset some of the annual model change depreciation. With the intro of the new 911 model Porsche cooperated with this as per attached letter. It was only later that enthusiast groups started making the '65/66 manufacturing date distinctions that have been the source of ongoing debate on this board. I'm not aware of anyone being able to somehow backdate the actual titling of a '66 car to a '65.

I suppose that is reasonable for a car that will never be a desirable matching numbers car and needs lots of work. Problem with the internet (and thanks to this fantastic board) its just too hard to hide a car's previous history now.

The original engine might still be out there. We have seen a reunion happening a few times at this board. I agree that it needs a lot of work and has a lot of missing (incorrect) parts.

A 'problem' for a seller .. but good for potential buyers.
