    1972 Porsche 911T Coupe

    Please don't eliminate this one because of the updates. It can (and should) be changed back to its original long hood configuration. There is a very nice MATCHING NUMBER '72 911T waiting to emerge from under the fiberglass 993 fenders, lids, & bumpers! Not a difficult project. Lots of potential here to end up with a great 911 if you are willing to put forth a bit of effort.

    This is a 911T Coupe which was updated with a 993 body kit a number of years ago when it made sense to do this. Now that early 911 values have soared, it would make more sense to change it back to original 911T specs.

    It appears that it was originally silver with black interior and air conditioning - a very desirable combination. It also has the cool outside oil filler door which was produced for one year only. The engine is the factory 2.4 liter six equipped with Bosch (MFI) mechanical fuel injection.

    This is a great opportunity to get into a desirable early 911 with great specs, and add to its value by returning the car to its original configuration at a later date. Because this is a non-sunroof car, it would be perfect to use for the basis of a vintage race car, RS replica, or "R Gruppe" style street performance car.

    Since this car has already been modified, you have the freedom to do whatever you want without the worry of destroying an expensive original car. Most of the modifications are simply bolt-on, and removal should be easy and quick. These 993 style fiberglass panels could be resold to help defray the cost of proper body panels. The Turbo Twist style wheels (with nearly new Kumho 225/45ZR17 & 255/40ZR17 tires) can also be sold or traded for the proper Fuchs wheels.

    The car is a solid candidate for restoration. Nice floor pan with original undercoating still intact. The only rust noted is some typical bubbling at the base of two of the roof pillars, and scaling in the leading edge of the trunk and front crossmember (I assume these areas can be cleaned and treated without need for replacement metal).

    The interior has had several updates (front seats, modern steering wheel, power windows, etc.). There is a Kenwood Stereo CD player installed. The original under-dash Air Conditioning vents are still there, and the resto of the A/C system appears to be intact other than the compressor in the engine compartment (bracket and hardware are still mounted).

    The car runs and drives and the brakes and transmission work well. Very smooth shifting. I was told that the engine was rebuilt at a cost of $14k, but am still waiting to receive a copy of the shop receipt. The car has been in storage for a while, so I'd give it a good service before putting the car to use.

    $29,500 or may consider an interesting classic car or motorcycle trade plus cash. Car is located in Santa Barbara, CA
