1971 2.2E SSI heat exchanger mod

Hi. I have just purchased a pair of SSI heat exchangers for my 911 knowing that they are for the later 72 onwards cars. These have the hot air collection pod on the left hand exchanger which I don't require. My question is, should I cut this off ( carefully ) as I see no need for it at all.

    I fitted a 22mm welch/freez plug.

Much easier then cutting and welding it closed, IMO.

yep that is for the preheat for the 2,4 cars, dremel it off if you want, it's not hurting anything (other than providing a mice hotel)
