Thread: 73 S - instrument repair/restoration source?

    NHS repaired, calibrated and reconditioned the five gauges I purchased for my '73 project - they came back looking like new. The speedo came from a different car and the numbers on the face were yellow compared to the other four gauges, so they silk-screened new numbers to match the color of the other four gauges. I also asked them to be careful to preserve the date stamp on the back, and they did.

    How much should I expect to pay (ball park) to restore all five gauges for a 1969 911T at NHS? They are all working but not optimal. Thanks a lot!

    Good question. I am curious too. I sent MANY gauges to NHS 25+ years ago when doing slant nose conversions
    to the 911's. At 23 years old, I thought the prices were pretty good. I thought I heard a quote for the early 911
    gauges a few months ago, and was slightly shocked at their prices now... for just a cosmetic resto of the gauges.
    Lets see what some guy have paid.
    I have a set for my '71 that I'd be tempted to have re-done if the prices was right. Make them look like new again.
    If price is high, then I also could live with the little bit of "panita" they have. ;o)

    Full set of '67 S gauges repaired/recalibrated/quartz clock conversion and cosmetically restored to show condition was $1200 in 2012 at Palo Alto Speedometer.

    Talked to both NHS as well as Palo Alto. They both quoted anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the amount of work required. Just printing the artwork on the faces of the gauges is about $400. They always recommend to fully service the speedo and the tachometer because they will eventually fail. Clock converted to quartz, etc. NHS had a 4-6 month wait time, while Palo Alto had a 2-3 month. I guess I'll have to wait until next winter...

    I used to use North Hollywood Speedo, until Hartmut sold the company around 5 years ago. Since then I have been using
    West Valley Instruments. Their work is just as good as North Hollywood Speedo, but their prices are cheaper and their turnover time is faster. They also do Bezels, conversions from KMH to MPH, simple testing and cleaning, recalibration. Whatever you need.
