Thread: LWB Gauge Wiring

    LWB Gauge Wiring

One of the last LWBs in fact - a 1973.5 CIS car, tho I suspect that does not make a difference...

I got my gauges back from being refurbished and am now trying to connect them up again. I took photos of each one and also drew diagrams of the connections. Too bad some of the wires blocked the view of some other wires on some pics...

My question is about the Oil Temperature gauge. It seems like a solid green wire goes to a grounded terminal on the back, which is not kosher DIN is it??
    (Yes, that's green, not brown).

The wiring diagram is not helpful as it just shows a curved half-circle as the termination of the wire.

So, where does the solid green wire go?

Spare wire. It's only used on Sportmatics.

My car is a 5 speed.

Should it be taped up? It wasn't taped up originally.

Should it be connected to the gauge ground (i.e. the shell)?

Nope - those wiring diagrams don't seem to include the sporto looms...

It's for the oil temp light incorporated in the Sporto oil temp gauge.

Okay, that could explain a few things! I had my sporto gauge converted at NHS, so the warning light must have been deleted.

Here is the Sporto wiring from the 73.5 diagram. It is included in the wire harness even if not Spormatic. Green wire sits unconnected behind my oil gage.

    John,

The light is in the oil temp side of the gauge, so I NHS fitted a numbered oil temp cluster, then the light socket would have been removed, as it's part of that section.

The Sporto gauge has an extra globe socket at the top of the oil temp cluster section...... No photos sorry.
