    1969 Tach gauge seal

    Hi all-

I'm trying to find the correct thin gauge seal ring for a '69 Tach. I've ordered both from Stoddard and Sierra Madre, but both parts are the incorrect large '70+ seal ring.

Should I order a '68 or earlier seal? Anyone have a part number?

    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Cheers,

The 69 gauge receiver holes in the dash are smaller and don't utilize the seal rings to hold them in place, although the gauges are all the same size. MY 69 gauges are retained by C and L clamps with thumb screws in the back side. If you have later gauges that don't have the mounting studs on the back, you can use alternate studs that you will find on the back. Otherwise you can wrap electrical tape in place of the seals to your needed needed thickness around each gauge and mount them that way. Hope this helps.

Although these seals are needed, they are not for mounting the gauges.

I'll be stoked if Stoddard has the correct seals. I looked everywhere for a set last year for my '69 and couldn't find them. I ended up buying another set of used gauges just for the seals!

I purchased a full set last year, and the fit is good.

I'm away at the moment so can't check part #

I got the seals for my 67 from North Hollywood I believe, they don't have the 'big' one for the tach, but you just get two speedo ones and stretch it over the tach.

    Hi Ed-

Thanks, that makes the most sense. The link that Tony inserted above is for the 95mm gauges. The tach is 115mm, but Ed is suggesting to stretch the 95mm seal.

@gsjohnson, my gauges had very brittle thin seals on them when I disassembled the car. I tried to fit without seals at first and there was too much rattle with moderate tightening on the lock clamps and knobs. I didn't want to really crank on them to get a snug fit.

    Thanks again for the help!

I don't think the 115mm is available anymore, but the one I linked above worked well as I said.
