I have no affiliation what so ever, but reading the AUSTRALIAN ad, I'm guessing the drive-train in this car belongs to a US delivered car...

Hope it helps someone.

. . . Have someone interested in motor, so car will be sold with a code correct (901/09) '69E manual engine case to suit this car. A different motor can be sourced, or car can be sold without turbo panels as a project.
First of the LWB 911, the 1969 is a very desirable year. The new model 911E ( E for 'Einspritzung' (Injection) was the comfort version in the middle of the base 911T 'Touring' and the the 911S 'Super' and Equipped with the new Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI) This particular car has the advantage of all of the same year 911S drivetrain!
One of only 858 911E targas made.
Fitted with matching set 1969 911S 2.0 MFI (901/10) and USA 5 speed (901/13) that was originally from 4/'69 911S Coupe VIN 119300980 (if you have this car you should call me).
The '69S engine is a very special Porsche motor with unique features:
- First Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI)
- last (and best) of the 2.0s 190HP SAE
- highest compression from factory 9.9:1, and highest power per litre of an air cooled production engine
- first production engine to share 906 race car valves 45/39mm (sodium filled)
- one year only cylinder head
- first for CDI
- only year for unique wiring harness at engine with three plug connectors
- only year for two MFI pump solenoids
- first 901 magnesium transmission
This is the same running gear as in the $135,000 '69 S coupe listed in carsales.
The MFI engine was Dyno-tuned recently at PRT in Brookvale and true to the 'S' cam, power pulled well up high to its 7300rpm limit.
As above have a code correct '69 E manual engine case (901/09).
Will consider selling the drivetrain separately, or swapping motor with another and money my way.
The car originally from imported by Porsche Dealer P.C. Pacific in California and imported into Australia in the 90's and completely rebuilt.
As Targas were not available in RHD until 1973, the only way to get a RHD targa was for Specialists to convert them.
This car was professionally converted from a LHD soft window targa at this time to the updated version you see using all genuine Body panels by Porsche conversion workshop in Sydney's northern beaches.
All steel panels and genuine 930 16in turbo wheels, tail, skirts and guards.
The original drivers manual which accompanies the car details both hard and soft windows, although I am not sure if this was a soft window targa from factory - all I know is it was converted from a SWT many years ago to the fixed window it has now.
You really need to be in the US to know for sure, as there are no known post '68 SWTs in Aus.
Has the aluminum 'S' calipers also.
The car presents very well and the paint is in excellent order retaining the deep red that hasn't gone milky like a lot of them do.
Recently fitted genuine Speedster front bar by Zag Automotive and car also comes with a slant nose spoiler.
With 'S' models at museum level prices, the 'E' model is steeply rising in value by enthusiasts who missed the 'S', and still represents an affordable classic 911. Updated interior, power windows and ventilation system makes for a practical and comfortable touring experience that can be enjoyed for many years while preparing for the narrow body build.
Please read the entire ad before calling after 5pm weekdays, anytime weekend.
PS, as above, originally USA delivered, and therefore originally LHD as all Early Targas were . . .
(Not mine)
That's the one thanks for the bump.
69E case is 6290476 type 901/09.
Waiting on a 901 to arrive.
Cheers
