Some v-high-end merch on the move, here . . .

'. . . “I’ve never bought a car as an investment,” states Jerry Seinfeld. “I don’t really even think of myself as a collector. I just love cars. And I still love these cars. But it’s time to send some of them back into the world, for someone else to enjoy, as I have” . . .'

Sounds like someone may be receiving some margin calls... with these markets probably more to come and then the asset fire sale begins.

Seinfeld?? Hardly. He's out there buying even as he's selling.

Dunno much about the cars being sold, but --- from the looks of the photos? . . .

. . . seems that they've pretty-much had living daylights restored out of 'em

    Sooooo --- what's he buyin'? . . .

Seems that none other than Good Ol' Mr $ was the HIGH-bidder on that nasty/beater Speedy at Gooding's Pebble Beach Fandango, this past

Don't think he's gonna worry toooooo much about gettin' this one dirty . . .

There is a four page rebuttal by Seinfeld and and Stephen Serio in Sports Car Market (Feb. '16) defending purchase of the Speedster. Previous commentary on the car regarding the auction, condition and price paid wasn't all roses.

In the same issue, next page, Miles Collier writes his rebuttal to the aforementioned rebuttal: Be That As It May.

The introduction line is: "De gustibus non est disputandum." He sticks to his guns regarding previous critiques of the car and does not believe the auction results could be repeated.

I suspect that these cars have guarantees. Any auction house would want Jerry's cars. He's in a really strong negotiating position.

The problem with a guarantee is that if the guarantee is backed by a 3rd party that 3rd party can bid the price up. The auction house can only bid up to the reserve. A 3rd party guarantor is not restricted in that manner.

The problem is no one knows who that person really is - except for David Gooding.

It could also be the case that David already owns the cars as well. The auction houses are buying a lot of cars these days.
