Those of us over 55 were raised in an era when owning stuff was very important. Remember "The one who dies with the most toys wins." You'll never hear that coming from the younger generation.

In my neighborhood the younger kids under 14 all give me the thumbs up or a wave when they hear one of my air cooled cars coming down the street at high RPM's in 2nd gear. So maybe there is hope for that generation.

You want experiences? Drive an old 911 through the mountains, or twisty back roads. Or even to work. To heck with the Amazon river.

I love this thread- Did i miss anyone who said the investment in a fun old longhood can be cheaply insured for 'agreed value'? I bet some ENRON owners would like a little fun at 7300 RPM!

    I jumped onboard in 1999-

Burning asphalt and groovin' high for this long- with an agreed value insurance?

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer- but around town in the '69S?
    I'm often the fastest.

I'm CONSTANTLY accosted by wanna be long-hood owners every time I ride- (including a run today for four 12 packs of Stella cans for a sailing Va-Ca). "Ya WANNA SELL?"

    Please-

I now just hold up three fingers-

    THREE HUNDRED-
    three hundred grand...

And live in fear of someone saying "OK"

Here, I'll say it "This IS the beginning of the end"

Now, I have to say I am glad things have chilled a bit. In this type of market buyers have time to make better choices.

But whether the prices continue to go up or down, I thoroughly enjoy driving my cars.

    Yes.

They get kind of stale when you have to drive them day in and day out.

But I get tired of racing them too so I may be an anomaly.

Yes. I usually wake up in the morning in a cold sweat thinking I haven't taken my cars out for a drive in weeks!

I just think that the Porsche 911 as a brand is and will be even stronger. Before you could not buy a 911 with 50 years off history. Now it is possible, and still cheap (in relative art terms). What do you think that will happen when you can buy a piece off art with a 100 year history? Parking that 1965 911 next to your brand new 2066 "flying electric solar panel 911" is really something....And some people will pay for that.

I am not an investor. I just love the brand and the look off early 911, something that I think will remain as an icon as long as I am in this world.

And in the end.... Who cares about the price if you love something...
