No high beams with dash lights on ?

1971 with H4's, stock bulbs without added relays.

Lights have been working normally for years, currently high beams only work while dash dimmer rheostat is completely turned down. High beams do work with lights off when pulled to flash mode. What am I facing here, dying headlight switch, turn signal switch or will a headlight relay resolve this?

    Enlighten me
    David

I had sporadic headlight issues as well as a high beam issue like you noted. Mine could be traced to corroded wiring in the fuse box making poor connections. Even found some scorching

start by pulling all bulbs out one by one. Sometimes the bulbs are the problem. Especially the directional which have dual filalments. They sometimes are put in wrong. May not be the problem...but easy to check.

Sounds like the column switch. You need relays with H4s or they will eventually fry the column switch.
