I'm not really an expert in this field but it seems like some of you guys are --
I found a decent selection of Porsche steering wheels, wooden, in an auction (to be held in about a week).
It is stated in their online catalogue that they should fit for 911 models, and they are quite rare. I'm thinking about passing a prebid of 4000 Euros on one of the wooden steering wheels - do you guys think it might be too low?
I've never bought on an auction, if you can judge it better it's on Automobilia Auktion's homepage (click on Onlinekatalog - search for "Porsche Lenkrad", the one with 2900 Limit-price),

    thanks for any help!

You must be one of a few choices.
    1. An Auction House shill.
    2. A clever, disgruntled Ex Porsche owner.
    3. A moron
    4. A combination of any of the above.

    There does that help?

    Warmest Regards

    Jim

Does anyone have info on this wheel? It's 380mm with a leather covered rubber ring.

I haven't seen a wheel with that number on it. It does appear to be a proper hub for a 911 conversion, though. The VW stamp puzzles me.

I found a second one in my stash so I know it's not a "one off" or made up wheel.

I read this and the other posts on 380mm wheels and could not find my wheel, although mepstein's is the closest...any idea's on what I have here? The number is:
    914 347 087 10, date stamped 9/69 and is a 380mm wheel.

    I've seen a couple now on early 914's. 087 - plastic, 088 - leather. '69 date codes.

So I think based on the thread ...

...this would be a 914-6 or RS wheel. Can you guys confirm for me? Excellent leather, horn button etc. I don't want to post it till I can verify it is what it is. Also hard to dictate a price as there are a lot of wannabe wheels claiming to be what they are not, at elevated prices.
Jim, weigh in, but be kind.
