ITs a 914-6 wheel but, that batwing was NEVER original to that wheel in 1970 unless there is some archaic 914 accessory that I am unaware of.

    The batwing is SWB 911/912

Jim, weigh in, but be kind.

Kudos for wanting to properly describe the wheel.
It would be an excellent wheel for either a RS, 914/6 or any other 73 and earlier 911 or 912. The horn button should be sold separately, even though, I kind of like the look.

    Regards

Thanks guys. My fault with the early horn button. I like the early horn buttons, alone and butterfly (more than the batwings) and use them on my cars with early wheels. I had tucked this wheel away a few years ago with this "incorrect" horn button and forgot about it when I posted the picture. Jim...I agree with you, I like the look but it is "wrong". So here is the correct batwing that was on an 806 10 wheel...now on the 805 10 wheel. Now that I am close to correct, please help me with the original question.

IMO you have a $650 wheel there with the butterfly horn pad. You can buy an 805.10 all day for $200 needing a re wrap then Dallas custom for $350 plus butterfly for $100. Yours is good as is not sure if your cover is original if it is then there would be a premium added to the $650. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mike! This is the original cover...and very nice shape. No wear, so no reason to consider a recover. I think the 806 10 is original to my 914-6 and I have more horn buttons, so this pair is extra. I will probably use an early wood 360 Nardi in the six (like the one in my softie) but hang onto the original wheel.

Yes I have my original 806.10 for my six but am running a double wrap 806.10 with a hockey puck right now.

RS and RSR steering wheel geeks and others,

I thought I'd keep this thread alive with some photos of my authentic RSR, Part number 914 347 803 10 with a 4 '72 date code. I had my secret source in the South remove the original leather, which had a hole in it, and preserve the original felt and then DUPLICATE the original leather cover stitching and all. IMHO, he did a GREAT Job. Check it out ! Thanks.
