    Value of a 1970 2.2s motor?

    Hi guys,

I just purchased a Porsche 914 that has a 1970 2.2s motor in it. Engine serial number: 6301335

    Running dual weber 40's

    Compression numbers:
    140
    132
    127
    126
    127
    122

    Rebuild in 05 details:
    Align bored
    Oil squirters installed
    Shuffle pinned
    Time certs
    New chain/ramps/bearings
    New rings
Crank turned and drilled for oiling

I have had a few people say this motor might be desirable by the early 911 guys, so posting to get and idea of what the engine is worth?

Any advice from the experts out there?

    Matt

a big factor is if the original mechanical injection is still with the engine also how many of the original parts of the engine are still inside makes a great deal of variables to determine a price
I just wish it was the one that belonged to my car.

    do you have pictures?

I don't understand why a post I submitted days ago has not posted yet.

Do admins have to approve all messages with attached pictures?

No mechanical fuel injection with this engine.

Pictures I could find (tough to get pictures in a 914)

Yea, I was out at the Werks Reunion on Friday. Lots of beautiful P cars out on the golf coarse in Carmel Valley.

As Richard indicated, you're going to need to determine how much of the original 'S' engine is still there.
Since the MFI system is missing, are the original MFI heads present? (Can't see this at all in the tiny photos).
Does it still have the 2.2S P&Cs?
Depending how how complete it is, you may end up with the price reflecting an 'S' case only. Of course, if you can find the original chassis that it belongs to you'll find more value.

    Good info.

I will do some more investigation this week. Do the heads have a way to determine if they are MFI?

Is there a way to coorilate chassis to engine serial number?

Thanks for the assistance in being a noob.
