Does Anyone Know of a Dennis Carter in the UK?

It bothers me to have to do this, but I've received some vague inquiries from the 'Dennis Carter' in the UK re: Fuchs wheels. He also uses the moniker "thumpsup." I've tried to get more information, but there seems to be a gap of some sort.

I certainly do not want to besmirch anyone's good name, but I am also aware of the presence of scammers. In this community of enthusiasts there seems to be a measure of vigilance.

Does anyone have any interaction with this person which would demonstrate a reputation?

    Thank you all.

The name is very suspicious. It's not one that I know in Porsche circles. Now, had it been Barry Carter there is a different matter. Do you have a location?

I got this one today - looks suspect to me…

    This is the message:

You can e-mail me on thumpsup95@gmail.com with your needs as it will be a pleasure to help. A phone contact to reach you will be great too.

    Cheers,

the response to cam arnott is exactly the same one that i got.

again, it is not my intent to disparage anyone, but it would seem that the community benefits from checking.

this just doesn't make me comfortable.

Thruxton is indeed in Hampshire but it does 'feel' a bit odd to me. It seems to be right next door to thruxton racing circuit which does seem to be a bit of a coincidence. I notice the address does not give the 'postcode' (the same as your zip code) so as a double check "for shipping purposes" you could ask for his post code and I will check it out.

It is always suspicious to me when a UK vendor answers a WTB ad saying "I have what you want" and give me a phone #.
Shipping across an ocean is very expensive, and the higher prices in Europe tend to make these things uneconomical. All of these things scream scam.
