    The new La Ferrari

Saw this brand-new LaFerrari in a quiet corner of the pits at Laguna Seca last weekend during Monterey Week. Not in a position to offer anything new in the way of specs, since I think all any of us know about this car is what the periodicals have been fed by the factory.

What I can confidently report, is that this is not like any past Ferrari I've ever seen, including the current production models, i.e., FF, 458 etc…….and I'm not referring to the Hybrid technology, price, speed, power or exclusivity, rather the appearant quality and care and immpecable way the car seems to be finished & turned out - there seems to have been a quiet revolution at Maranello, resulting in a noticable increase in attention to detail, especially aerodynamically, and a degree of perfection I've never seen in any Italian aoutomotive product. I'm sure there are folks who'l instantly hyperventilate and shout that for $ 1.7 million it ought to be perfect, but price has never stopped the Scuderia from pawning some pretty shoddy goods upon its adoring clientele…….remember the F40 - really not much better than a kit-car.

    ………..and significantly, it's not red.

For the sake of comparison and quick reference I'm also including a shot of a brand-new dark-blue McLaren P1 ( Photo #10 ) parked a few feet away to illustrate the difference in design philosophy and execution.

    thanks for posting.

Italian cars being of poor quality is no longer true. It certainly WAS true back in the 80s...not now.

John - your choice of angles and image comp in general are always wonderful to look at.

And what a car. Without the McLaren shot for reference my first response is that I've never seen a car like that Ferrari

Holly cow, what a space age device!

    cheers!
